A Special Message About Helping Burmese Refugees
There is a growing need for spiritual ministry among the Burmese families that are coming to Knoxville as refugees. The group's number has been growing over the last couple of years (currently 10-12) but without any possibility of having their own church or attending church elsewhere. The serious problems behind this issue are the refugees' very limited English language skills and the difficulty of being able to find someone from among the group who can minister to them in their own language.
As a result, some of these refugees don't seem to care about their faith anymore and we are beginning to see some instances of morality-related issues to the point where one individual has gotten into trouble with the law.
Please pray that we will have wisdom to know how to effectively reach out to this group and meet their spiritual needs.
Also, please contact Almaz (291-5282) if you know of anyone who can befriend the new Burmese kids ages 8, 10 and 14 (pictured above). The two older ones are boys and the youngest is a girl. The older boy attends Central High School and the two younger kids attend Christenberry Elementary.
Iraqi Family - We are so grateful for those of you who have been giving your time and your resources in order to welcome another Iraqi refugee family into our community. We wouldn’t have had the opportunity to reach out to them if it wasn’t for your generous donations and the gift of time. This family has been able to start this journey in the right direction because of what the Lord has done for them through us. We trust that He will continue to provide for the rest of their needs during this difficult transition as they try to acclimate to our culture and get on their own feet.

Ongoing Opportunities with the Refugee Resettlement Ministry
The Refugee Resettlement Ministry at CSPC is looking for people who would like to reach out to some refugee families whom God has placed in our care this past year. There are great opportunities coming up for those of you who’d like to come alongside and share the Lord’s blessings in your lives with those strangers who are still struggling to adjust to this culture. You can devote just an hour a week to disciple or lead our two young refugee men in a small group Bible study; or visit the refugee children at your convenience to tutor, mentor and guide them. You could also reach out to the parents/grandparents to help build their ability to take care of themselves and their families. Your presence could mean a lot to them as they always look forward to talking to someone from our church.
For more information or if you have a heart for refugee outreach, please contact Almaz Gemechu at: 291-5282 (Work); 201-0149 (Cell) or almaz@cspc.net.
