Adult Education at Cedar Springs
Adult Education
"But the goal of our instruction is love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith." 1 Timothy 1:5
Our aim in Adult Christian Education is the maturity and unity of the church as we grow up in Christ and express God’s kingdom in our culture. We are a church on mission, a people seeking the kingdom and a personal radical transformation toward a biblical worldview through the power of the Holy Spirit in our families, neighborhoods and the world beyond.
To encourage learning that embraces all of life, we seek to provide opportunities and resources in places such as Sunday classes, small groups and the church library to strengthen the levels of learning and life-application among our communities of faith.
Starting Point
Starting Point: Begins January 18, 2009.
What exactly is it? Starting Point is a conversational environment where people can explore faith and experience community.
Who is it for? Starting Point is a place for people who are curious about God, Jesus, the Bible or Christianity - but aren’t sure where to begin. It is a place for people who may have just begun a relationship with God-but might be wondering, “O.k.. So where do I go from here?” It is a place for people who might be seeking to reconnect with God after a season away - but aren’t sure if what they understood before is what is really true about God.
Class size is limited to 12, so sign up soon. The Starting Point materials do cost $35 but please do not let money be an issue, as we do have scholarships available. You can either pick up the self-evaluation and registration form at the Welcome Desk or you can sign up online here.
If you have any questions, please call or email Doug Messer (291-5288 or dougmesser@cspc.net).

Course Content: This course will seek to shape the way we read Scripture through an understanding that the Bible is one story with a single, unified plotline: God’s mission to reconcile humanity and creation to Himself. We will take a wide overview of Scripture trying to see how the individual parts which sometimes cause us difficulty fit into the larger story of God’s loving pursuit of humanity.
Teach Me to Pray
Teacher: Andy Holt, 9-10:15 a.m., Jan. 11 - Feb. 22, B203 (Life CU)
Course Content: “I’d like to know more about prayer.” “I don’t really understand God’s ideas about prayer.” We often need encouragement, some spurring on, some fresh input on ways to pray. This class will be an eight-week study on prayer. Our textbook: God’s Word.
Our goal: To encourage one another to pray to our wonderful Lord. In these eight classes you’ll study some of the teachings and examples of the practice of prayer in God’s Word. “Lord, teach us to pray.” (Luke 11:1)
